Some People Are Surprisingly Funny

Monday, August 8th, 2011

I was searching the Internet recently to find a few famous quotes I planned to use in a school assignment. I noticed after a short while that some of the quotes were actually funny. This wasn’t such a great discovery except for the fact that they were from some people one wouldn’t ordinarily consider as being funny. As an example, Richard Nixon once said: “I’ve never canceled a subscription to a newspaper because of bad cartoons or editorials. If that were the case, I wouldn’t have any newspapers or magazines to read.” Who would have thought that this stern president had a lighter side to him? Or how about this funny quote from Winston Churchill, supposedly he told to a woman in a bar who accused him of being drunk? : “I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.” This is one of my all time favorite quotes. As you can see, funny quotes can come from the most unexpected places.

Digital text, or books online, is a great way to help your child learn. They have books for kindergarteners all the way through grade 12. They have books for math, language arts, science, and social studies. Technology is getting easier than having a real thing. Having a book available with you on your computer allows for faster searches, and a more customizable experience. These books, once bought, will be downloaded onto your computer so you can access them whenever you want! Each book has lesson plans and are encoded with videos, images, and hyperlinks! Hyperlinks, for those of you who do not know, are just links that when you click on them, it will bring you to another page. This allows for other information, not only from the book, to be learned. You also have the ability to add your own audio or video to the lesson to take notes. Instead of writing down notes, you can just talk about the lesson, and replay your voice to help you study.
