Train Graffiti: Strangely Compelling Artwork

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Graffiti Art posters - Boogie Down Bulldog Kelzo Graffiti Art poster ...While it isn’t pleasant, or in most cases, convenient to be held up waiting for a train to pass, there are certain perks. For years, instead of fussing, complaining, and repeatedly looking at my watch, I have made an effort to observe the various graffiti art that passes by on train cars. Of course this is vandalism, since railroads pay good money to maintain these cars, however, some of the artwork that they display is very good. While I have never actually seen anyone decorating railroad cars, I cannot help but wonder what inspires someone to buy various cans of paint, sneak past security in rail yards, and stand for hours creating their particular style of art. I have been told that much of this is gang related, which pretty much explains why many of the symbols and expressions make no sense to me. However, there are some instances where there is actual artwork, complete with shading, contrast, and perspective, worthy of a trained and potentially successful artist.

Drawing Cats and Dogs

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

I live with two cats and a dog. They are really funny. Even right now the cat is sitting on my lap demanding to be petted. I have started drawing my cats and my dog, kind of like they were cartoons. This is because they have such funny interactions. The dog is always terrified that the cats are going to steal his food, and he is very protective of his toys, because he thinks the cats might steal them or something. He tries to hide his toys from the cats. If the cats see him or watch him while he is trying to hide his toys, he gets all upset and whines. Then he waits for the cats to go away, which can take a long time, and then he starts putting his toys and different hiding places. It is getting hard because we can barely find any toys to play with him anymore.

Enjoy Your Movie Rentals Even More by Paying Less for Them!

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

If you are one of those movie avid lovers who finds himself renting from the local video store on a regular basis and can always rattle off a list of titles of films that you want to see, then there is an alternative way of renting DVDs and Bluray movies that could potentially save you a lot of money each month!

Today there are a number of online movie rental service providers available to choose from, with each one offering video rental plans for DVD and Bluray that will suit a variety of rental preferences. There are plans available for those who like to rent a larger number of movies at any one time as well as plans for those who prefer to just have one or two films on hand at any one time. Whatever your preference, these plans will likely save you quite a bit of money each month compared with the prices that you are likely paying right now at your local video store for the same movies. The key with these online movie rental services is in having a standing list of movies that you want to see since the way these plans work is that you are sent the next available movie on your want list. If you are someone who doesn’t really know what they want to watch until they are standing in the video store staring at the rows of available movies, then an online video rental service might not be the best option for you. In that case, you might want to consider an alternative way to save money on your video rental fees by either trying a video rental kiosk at your local shopping center, or by having the movies come to you through your desktop or laptop through a streaming movie rental service. Both ways of renting movies will probably save you a lot compared to renting from the traditional brick and mortar video store. In Canada, one of the major movie rental service providers is Zip.ca. Zip.ca offers customers a choice of renting movies through the mail, at a local rental kiosk, or by streaming directly to your internet-enabled device. If any of these choices sound like a way that you would like to start receiving your movies while saving money, then take a look online for a zip.ca review or two and make your decision.

My Best’s Friend Oil Painting

Friday, September 16th, 2011

My best Denise had a dog. That dog was small. The small dog had its picture made. Then Denise made the picture an oil painting from photo in the USA. She loved that photo with a passion. Then one day something happened to it. We went looking for it everywhere. She began to cry. Her dog named Bugs became very sad too. I never knew a photo could make someone so happy. So I gave her a hug and told her let’s find it.

We embarked on our journey to find that picture that she loved so much. We checked the counters, couches, and cars. We kept scratching our head saying, “Where could it be?” We couldn’t find it anywhere. We both missed that picture. “I miss my painting.” she said.

Then something told me to look under Bug’s bed. Then I took a look under his bed. It was there. End of the story was your dog loves oil paintings too.

The Five Elements to Making Obama Political Cartoons

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

In making political cartoons, more specifically Obama political cartoons, there are five elements that you need to consider as a cartoonist. These are symbolism, labeling, exaggeration, analogy and irony. To help you understand what all these elements are, you can just read on to see what they mean and how you can incorporate them into the political cartoons you’re planning on drawing.

Symbolism is the first element and this is what’s going to help you come up with great Obama political cartoons. With the use of simple objects, you can make use of these to mean ideas or political concepts. For example if you want to depict peace in your drawing, you can make use of a dove with an olive branch or you can go with the peace sign that became pretty popular in the 1970s. The next element is labeling. This is a tool that you can utilize to make your drawing’s message clearer.

For exaggeration, you would have to overdo a popular and well-known physical characteristic of your subject. In Obama’s case, you can draw him with an oversized smile or you can take a look at some of his habits and mannerisms to see what you can exaggerate. With regard to analogy, you’re going to make a comparison between two unlike objects. Even if the similarities aren’t too obvious, you can find that connection which in return can make your political cartoon look a lot better. If you compare a complex situation with something that’s simpler, you can help your readers see a different side to it.

Finally, there’s irony. This is basically the difference between the way that things are in the world and the way you expect things to be. In expressing your opinion about a political issue, this is a very handy tool. Irony doesn’t always have to be your opinion about what the situation should be. You can always let what people think come to life by drawing their expectations and drawing the popular opinion of society. With all these five elements, you can come up with Obama political cartoons that are not only creative but also comes with a compelling message.

Cinematic Wedding Films: a Unique Way to Capture the Day

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

Cinematic wedding films are becoming more and more popular with brides and grooms wanting to capture the emotion of their big day in a unique and memorable way. Much like documentaries, the style of this type of filming starts at the beginning, and tells a love story that progresses to a ending with closure, and presumably a “happily ever after.” Unlike standard wedding videos, which simply capture the main events that take place at the wedding, such as the procession, vows, first dance, and throwing of the bouquet, these films tell the whole love story. The final product incorporates how the couple arrived at the wedding, not just how it is enjoyed the day of. And outsider could view the video and understand the couple better, without even knowing them at all. The bride and groom themselves become their own “show” and enjoy sharing it with others. The couple’s unique personality is showcased as the main theme, making the wedding itself more meaningful to watch.

How to Tune Miniature Electric Guitars with an Electric Tuner

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Mini electric guitars can also be knocked out of tune as their full electric or acoustic counterparts. However mini electric guitars do often require tuning, but fortunately you will be pleased to know that the tuning process is quite simple.

You can use an electric tuner, if you have one, to quickly tune your guitar. Tuning with an electric tuner can be done as follows: *Plug one end of the guitar amplifier cable into the input jack of the electric tune and plug the other end into the output jack of your mini electric guitar.

*Start by tuning the thickest string (the 6th string) to E. In order to do this, simply strum the 6th string by itself and let the tone ring. Watch the needle on the electric tuner. If it remains steady on E, then the string is in tune. If not, adjust the tuning key on the guitar for that string until the needle is steady on E, then re- strum the string to check if correctly tuned.

*Repeat this process through the rest of the strings. The strings are arranged in order of the thickest (6th string) to the thinnest (1st string). The 5th through 1st strings should be tuned to A, D, G, B and E, respectively. Use the electric tuner as explained above to assist in tuning each of these strings.

Autofocusing on Tamron 90mm Lens

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

The Tamron 90mm is not known for its fast autofocusing mechanism at all. In fact, the autofocusing mechanism on this lens can be considered somewhat slow and noisy. In this short post, I will share some ways you can use to remedy this problem. Let us see the first problem that we have. The first one is slow autofocus. You can simply utilize the focusing limiter on this lens to prevent this problem. The focusing limiter will limit the path that the autofocus has to travel and therefore it will make the focusing faster. This is especially helpful if you are not shooting macro pictures. Use this limiter when you are shooting portraiture. If you want to make the focusing noise to a minimum as well, you can switch to using manual focus on this lens. This will ensure you have good control over the focusing mechanism on this lens as well.

A Canon Lens Review on Telescopic Lenses

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

A Canon Lens Review on telescopic lenses is a very smart move before purchasing your first or even second telescopic lens. Unless you’re a professional sports photographer then there is still a wealth of information to learn before using a telescopic lens. This lens is usually a perfect upgrade to the standard 18-55mm lens that you get when buying most Digital SLR cameras. Zoom lens are easy to use and a nice upgrade for amateur photographers, still taking very good pictures from a large distance away. With Canon Telescopic lens there is an anti-shake feature basically removing any movement from your hands whilst taking a shot, meaning your shots are less likely to be blurred when taking shots on full zoom. Pro Audio Recording on a Laptop?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Since huge improvements to laptops in regards to storage and data transfer capabilities, we can now seriously use them as a source for professional recording purposes. Many new laptops can easily outperform some old desk top tower computers. When thinking about recording audio, as in a live music performance, you should seriously consider a Mac Powerbook or Macbook Pro over a PC Laptop.

The reason we are at this stage with the laptops powerful capabilities is all because of FireWire and USB technology. These two new technologies have enabled the speed of audio data transfer. First it was FireWire that supplied the big muscle as the fastest protocol but USB’s updated version 2.0 and now even 3.0 is over-shadowing FireWire.

Armed with only a Macbook Pro and a good quality audio interface with excellent audio to digital converters like the Apogee Duet 2, one can record very good sounding pro audio anywhere and at an unprecedented sample rate of 24-bit/192kHz.

Just Like Dear Old Dad

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

My dad used to tell the best funny stories. It wasn’t just the stories themselves, it was the way he told them. He could be telling a silly joke about ants on a pile of poop or a really funny story about something that happened to him and my mom while he was stationed in the Philippines during Vietnam, and it would have everybody laughing. I was always a shy kid, and my dad was always so outgoing. Later in life, I’ve become more like him. As a matter of fact, I became a comedian. At his funeral, my dad’s best friend from high school came up to me. I told him that I was living in Los Angeles. He asked me why I moved away. I told them it was because I was a standup comedian. He immediately laughed and called to his friend across the room. “Hey Doug! These kid is a comedian! Isn’t that exactly what you’d expect.” It was the first time in my life that I actually felt like I was kind of like my dad. It made me very happy.
