Are Toning Shoes The Real Deal

Everybody likes to get something for nothing now and again, and if it’s something that can help you avoid doing an activity that you either don’t like much, or just don’t have time for, then so much the better. The latest generation of so called “toning” shoes promise to give you a free workout while you walk. How cool is that?

Fit flops sandals, Skechers Shape Ups Reebok Easy Tones And New Balance True Balance are just a selection of some of the manufacturers who now market this new type of shoe. They work by using a specially designed sole to increase the amount of work that your lower body muscles do when you walk around normally.

A lot of these shoes use a curved sole to replicate the sensation of walking barefoot in soft sand. Fit flops and Reebok Easy Tones also use a theory of imbalance. The idea is that your leg muscles make a series of tiny adjustments in an attempt to regain balance – thereby doing more work.

Feedback from users is generally positive – although some of the claims sound too good to be true. The shoes are priced about the same as normal exercise shoes (and some bargain basement imitators are becoming available), so it might be worth it to give them a try the next time you need new shoes anyway.
